Back on the 5th, I promised to deliver a Rat Ogre-based Skaven list.
Basic premise is the same as that post, stuff the list with big stuff.
So, Warlords are in, on Bonebreakers. They need some kitting out, but that's really up to oneself to figure out. I like giving my Warlords more Strength, since the standard 4 is kinda low.
So, about 450-500 points spend there.
Both of these need some Rat Ogre units to be in, so two of those, preferably with Master Moulders, Master-bred Ogres and one of them, of course, with Skweel Gnawtooth.
That comes in at around 800 points.
Next up, we should cram in some Abominations - two of those. Let's leave out the Doomwheel for now...that's 470 points.
We've spent about 1750 points now, and we still need at least 625 points of core, leaving about 125 points for something else.
The core choices should be in-theme, but one problem is that the Rat Swarms and Giant Rats don't count for the minimum allotted Core points, so we need either Night Runners (Clan Eschin), Clanrats, Slaves or Stormvermin.
Well, since Stormvermin is the bodyguard of the Warlords, and we have two Warlords in the same list, it wouldn't be that strange if both of them brought their own personal guard, in case the other one tried to do something sneaky or devious...
Two units of 30ish Stormvermin, one with Storm Banner, both with full command group and a Warpfire Thrower, is just about 650 points.
Tweak a few numbers around, kit out the Warlords, and we might end up with about 144 points left as I did below.
What's a problem with Skaven, and especially with Rat Ogres without ranks? Leadership. How to mitigate? Bring a BSB. Now that we're here, we might as well kit him out as well. Let's try to boost both units of Rat Ogres, by bringing the Sacred Banner of the Horned Rat, and placing this guy within 12" of both Rat Ogre units and hopefully any target they engage, to get the -1 LD to work as expected. You should consider placing him behind a unit Stormvermin, to keep him out of harms way. Watch out for flyers though!
So, here's the list. I gave both Warlords a 5+ ward save, and something to get more Strength (Ogre Blade for +2, Warlock-Augmented Blade for +1 and +1 attack). Also, one got some Initiative boosting with the Potion of Speed, and the other one got an Enchanted Shield to get better a better save:

Main idea is to place both Stormvermin center table, and try to get some supporting charges with Rat Ogres units on either side and HPA's on the farther end of either side, but you can also make tag-teams with all three sets of units if you want to. Don't know if that's any good...probably not, though the idea is a bit humouring.
If facing a gunline, with melee stoppers in front, you need to bring a unit of Rat Ogres or, if you roll good for distance, a HPA to kill them.
That's the main reason for the Stormbanner, you have absolutely no way of killing things far away. And that's probably the biggest problem for this list, although I think it would be great fun to play.
Anyway, thoughts?
Hesse > Some thoughts on Necron Comp for S3
Great news! I finally got around to play the new Necrons a bit, and what can I say - I'm very satisfied! It's great to have my hands on an army that can shoot pretty decently, have a nice durability and really appeals to me.
Hesse > First Necron list + battle report
I have, through some rather shady canals, gotten hold of the new Necron Codex - no more rumour mongering for me, just the bare truth from the author himself!
Michael Boserup Hesselberg > Necrons confirmed with a teaser
GW put out one of their daily updates, concerning Dark Eldars, Polish Tomb Kings and...something else. It looks like the Necrons actually got a teaser trailer.
