Right, Monday is Warmachine/Hordes night in my local club. I faced off Harkevich, bringing Xerxis for the brawl.
I fielded:
Xerxis
Cyclops Shaman
Titan Sentry
6 Cetrati
Agonizer
10 Nihilators
4 Beasthandlers
Tyrant Commander & Standard Bearer
He fielded:
Harkevich
Beast-09
Black Ivan
Destroyer
10 Kayazy Assassins /w Underboss.
So, I think I started. We rolled Overrun from the 2011 Steamroller document, which meant that we both needed to get down and dirty in the center of the table.
Now, Xerxis is perfect for that type of scenario, so I had a lot of confidence. Here's the table during my second turn, I believe:

Beast-09 is hiding in the forest on my left.
I had moved up the Sentry and cast Locker, which was pretty neat. The shaman had done the same.
During his next turn he feated and proceeded to charge the Sentry with Beast-09, but realized he couldn't fit in any other jack due to Locker. He also only gave it two focus and missed the charge attack, rolling 5 on a 6+ on 2d6.
The Destroyer killed the shaman, while the Kayazy's moved closer between my Nihilators and killed a bunch of them.
My next turn, I just fortified my position, figuring I'd see if I could ride of the storm of his next turn for a killer feat turn, instead of his +3 ARM from his feat neutralizing my feat damage potential.
It payed off, especially due to the Agonizer catching all three of his jacks, denying him allocation. Also, Xerxis cast Inhospitable Ground for denying the Kayazy's a charge on him with their mini-feat.
My next turn was pretty simple. Fury on the Sentry + feat, and he all but destroyed both Beast-09 and Black Ivan, while the Cetrati plinked the last off Black Ivan and almost took down the Destroyer, it had like 6 or 7 boxes left, none in it's axe arm.
My opponent conceeded the game after this, figuring he couldn't change the outcome of the game with no jacks, and no infantry. I agreed with him on this.
Here's a picture of the last turn:

The scenario zone overlapped my front line of Cetrati, which meant that none of us ever got any points for scenario.
I really like Xerxis, to a point where I think he's gonna be a stable from here on (still need to see what Domination brings). Lots of power, and me being and old Troll player and generally loving huge, durable units that can take a beating and give one back, the brick with Cetrati backed by Titans is really down my alley!
Harkevich isn't really impressive to face - I'm glad I didn't face the usual Khador suspects; Butcher, Irusk or Vlad, I have a mental block or something when playing against them where I just give up before the game even starts.
I think I might have a fighting chance with Xerxis against them, however.
Thursday is 40K night, so I'll be swinging out my Daemons again. Also, all rumours point towards the imminent release of the Necrons, which means I'll be starting a new army for 40K - well, almost new, I had some leftovers, but new models would be sweet since they're in a pretty bad shape. Even lost the big crystal for the Monolith!
Monday I'll bring a new eMakeda list I've been working on, something like this:
eMakeda
Bronzeback
Molik
Gladiator
Extoller Soulward
6 Beasthandlers
6 Swordsmen /w UA
It's pretty much all about the beasts, and the idea is to expand it to 50 points soon, like so:
eMakeda
Bronzeback
Molik
Gladiator
Extoller Soulward
2 x 4 Beasthandlers
3 Ferox
10 Swordsmen /w UA
Tyrant Rhadeim
Also, my Xerxis force at 50 would look like this (Gencon-inspired):
Xerxis
Krea
Shaman
Sentry
Marketh
Agonizer
2 x 6 Cetrati
10 Nihilators
4 Beasthandlers
Depending on Domination, these are the lists I'll be focusing on, I think. I have another, older build of eMakeda that I might move back to, my only problem with that is that there's no Bronzeback, and I really like fielding it.
Also, none of these lists can face off a large list of high DEF single wounders, which might be a problem - the feat turn of eMakeda could bring the Swordsmen to average'd 15-17, but they might not be around long enough for this. Here's to hoping that eHexeris can change this a bit!
...which coincidentally also is why I've started to paint my Xerxis force first, he's staying.
Until next time!
Hesse > Some thoughts on Necron Comp for S3
Great news! I finally got around to play the new Necrons a bit, and what can I say - I'm very satisfied! It's great to have my hands on an army that can shoot pretty decently, have a nice durability and really appeals to me.
Hesse > First Necron list + battle report
I have, through some rather shady canals, gotten hold of the new Necron Codex - no more rumour mongering for me, just the bare truth from the author himself!
Michael Boserup Hesselberg > Necrons confirmed with a teaser
GW put out one of their daily updates, concerning Dark Eldars, Polish Tomb Kings and...something else. It looks like the Necrons actually got a teaser trailer.
